Campania

In the Spring of 2022 we returned to Campania after 10 years. Last time we were here we came through the Naples train station and were whisked away to Positano for three memorable nights on a two-week tour of Italy.

When we mapped out our itinerary for this Spring, Positano was a key stop in our plans, being the only place we really knew in Campania (outside of the Naples train station and its surrounding rough neighborhood). This time, we made Naples a stop with low expectations. It’s not a city for everyone, but it exceeded ours.

We then took a week to island hop to Ischia and Capri and spent another week on the Amalfi and Sorrento coasts visiting Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento and Pompeii.

Campania has quickly climbed to the top of our regions to visit in Italy list and we are excited to return…. someday.

We were a bit early in our visit here, two weeks later and the weather would have been warmer and the full service of ferries and restaurants would have been up and running while still being pre-season with fewer crowds. Plan your trip between mid-late April and mid May (in our opinion) for the best of both.
