Athens, Greece

Athens is huge, a little chaotic, and absolutely marvelous. It is full of history and culture, chocked full of tourists, crazy to navigate upon arrival, and stoked with hidden gems and peaceful oases if you know where to look.

We’ve visited Athens two times. We went to the Acropolis and “New” Acropolis Museum both times (hardly realizing on our first trip that it was in fact relatively newly opened at the time), once on our own and the second time with a guide.

This third largest city in the European Union with more than half of Greece’s population can feel overwhelming but after you buckle up and settle in you really come to appreciate its beauty, history and frenetic energy.
