Arizona

As the name implies, it’s dry, it’s hot, it’s arid. It can also be breathtakingly beautiful. While Arizona would not rank on my top places to live, it is a nice place to visit. I spent about a month living here during my first job traveling the deserts to places like Show-Low, Globe and Kingman.

In more recent years, I’ve spent time in Scottsdale for work and we’ve made a few cross-Arizona treks during COVID and since.

This is what we’ve done thus far:

  • To say you’ve visited Arizona you, seemingly, must visit the Grand Canyon. Just before Thanksgiving in 2024, we did just that. It was my fifth or sixth time there, but Melissa’s first. You can read our post here.

  • We spent Thanksgiving week in 2024 in Sedona, hiking and relaxing with friends. If hiking or new age enlightenment is your thing, Sedona is your place.
  • We spent part of a day cruising around the cactus forest in the east district of Saguaro National Park during a visit to Tucson and Scottsdale.

  • Our road trip across California, Arizona and New Mexico parallel to (mostly) the famous Route 66.

  • Our post-COVID vax roadtrip to California across Arizona and into the southwestern most state of California.
