We spent most of our time in Lazio in Rome. We’ve been to Rome three times. Our first trip was a couple of days pre-blog and we visited the Coliseum, the Vatican Museum and Saint Peter’s and the Palatine Hill. Later, post-blog, we spent a full week in an Airbnb right near the Campo di Fiori and the Pantheon. Perfectly located for exploring both the sights and the neighborhoods. We re-visited most of the places we’d visited the first time including the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. We meandered through the Jewish Ghetto and Travestere.
With a full week, we had hoped to visit some of the outer sites like the catacombs and Ostia Antica, but ran out of time. Read our review from our week in Rome here.

A few years later, we spent three nights in Rome while returning to Portugal and visited the Jewish Museum, several of Rome’s amazing churches and the Appian Way and Domitilla Catacomb.

We also cut out of the city for one day to visit Frascati for a wine tour, food tour and lunch. It was a quick, day trip and our tour was ridiculously inexpensive. For details click here.
