Scotland

We spent a little over a month in Scotland and our trip could be broken into three regions: Midlothian and Fife, the Highlands and the Islands.

If you love natural beauty and rugged wilderness, Scotland will steal your heart. While the weather rarely cooperates with your plans, there is an unbroken spirit to the people of Scotland and while one must be hale and hearty to live here, after a few days you get why they do.

Beauty lurks around every corner, hilltop and byway and the colors and light shift and change thousands of times a day. The landscape is punctuated with periodic wafts of bagpipe music calling out across a field or loch, lifting your spirit and drawing you closer for another tune.

Whether it is golfing in the sport’s home, hiking in rugged mountains, sailing down the Caledonian canal system, island hopping or just hitting the local pub for some banter there’s plenty to like in this northernmost country of the United Kingdom.
