We had barely been to the southwest part of France, west of Provence, until the summer of 2025. We drove through on our first trip to France on our way between Chinon and Aix-en-Provence with one overnight, so until 2025 it was basically an untouched part of the country for us.
We spent about a week in the Aude, Lot and Dorgogne areas staying in and visiting Carcassonne and then several of the area sights (in Albi, the Lascaux Caves and Rocamadour) based out of Mercuès.
We then advanced west for some time in the vineyards and town of St. Émilion and in the city of Bordeaux then capped off our trip with a couple of nights in Toulouse. You can read about our travels around the southwest in the links above and here.
