We spent about a week in Cumbria in Lake District in the small town of Troutbeck in between Windermere and Ambleside. We wrote about our stay in Lake District here.

From Lake District, we ventured north one day to trace the path of Hadrian’s Wall from east in Northumberland back into Cumbria. I’d come as a kid with my mother who was a Latin teacher and a lover of all things Roman history and, for that reason, this day was extra special for me.

On our way to the Isle of Man, we stayed overnight in Lancaster, a stop of convenience more than desire, but on our way off of the island, we visited Liverpool so I could take in the Beatles Story Museum. We didn’t stay overnight but liked Liverpool more than we expected, especially down by the Albert Dock area.
