The Two Blogs of the Traveling Ridleys

Some of you may already be aware that we actually have two blog sites linked here. This one, The Traveling Ridleys, the one to which you may already be subscribed, is used to primarily write about our travel, where we go, what we did, recommendations we have. It is made up of posts and pages with links from pages back to posts to make it (with any luck) easier to navigate and find content you might be interested in. From the main menu, you can access “Places We’ve Been” which is organized by region/country or our “Travel Waves” page which has links to Google Maps of places we visit each time we leave home in Colorado and until we return (what we call a “wave of travel”). Both have links back to various pages and posts to hopefully make it easy to find stuff.

But there’s another side to the Traveling Ridleys blog: “The Sunday Journal” (when we post, it is on a Sunday). Long ago, when we were first setting out on this journey and established this blog site, I created the Sunday Journal as a place to capture interesting (maybe) experiences. I was trying to keep it separate from (though not completely, as every travel expedition is full of experiences) from the “travel side”. As such, this separate blog requires a second subscription (if you go to the Sunday Journal and scroll to the bottom, there is a link to subscribe) in order to receive notifications of posts.

So, this post is really for our friends and family who may be unaware of the second side to our bipolar blog. On it, you can read about our experiences we’ve had acclimating in Portugal or learning how to shop at the Cascais Mercado or visiting a remote hotel for New Year’s on our first year living here. More recently, we posted about our experience learning Portuguese.

There are also several posts about interesting and unique travel experiences, many by Melissa, like her post about Braga, Portugal, Loch Ness in Scotland or Naples, Italy or our experience learning to speak “British” in the UK.

Anyway, if you didn’t know this side of our blog existed and want to see more, please check out the Sunday Journal and consider subscribing if you like what you see.
